The Environmental Systems Laboratory (Department of Chemical Engineering) deals with the physicochemical and biological treatment of wastes (solid and liquid). The laboratory’ s research team has great experience in the design/construction and operation of such units in industrial scale.

  • Potable water treatment: removal of hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, iron, manganese (www.water-biofilter.gr), autotrophic hydrogenotrophic denitrification
  • Treatment of agro-industrial wastewater: olive mill, table olive, dairy
  • Treatment of industrial wastewater: hexavalent chromium
  • Application of microalgae for wastewater treatment and biodiesel production
  • Modeling of biological processes

Charikleia Ζampeta received Chemical Engineering Diploma from the University of Patras. She is a PhD candidate at the Chemical Engineering Department since 2018 at Process and Environmental Engineering faculty. Her research interests include the study of wastewater treatment and especially the study of electrocoagulation and cavitation.
